Nearly a decade after the beginning of the curricular reform and five years since the beginning of implementation in all schools, the challenges and complaints of students, teachers and parents are daily. There are still uncertainties and dilemmas for specific aspects of the content, approach and implementation of the new curriculum.
Recent studies related to curricular reform in Kosovo, mainly have a focus on thematic treatment of aspects related to preparations for curriculum implementation, piloting, scope of implementation, challenges in implementation, etc., without a in-depth focus on dealing with aspects of curricular overload.
OECD countries have conducted an analysis of overload in education (Curriculum Overload: A Way Forward ,, OECD (2020). The study addresses aspects of curricular overload in four dimensions, which can also serve as a guide for other contexts and educational systems.
