IPK / CIDREE Expert Meeting ‘Career development practices and performance evaluation of school leaders’
In the framework of cooperation with CIDREE, KPI on 26-27 September 2019 organized a experts meeting to address the topic ‘Career development practices and performance evaluation of school principals’. Participants at the meeting were experts from four members countries of CIDREE, Scotland, Estonia, France and Slovenia, and the local representative of experts from the Ministry of Education Science and Technology, Faculty of Education, Municipal Departments, representatives from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit-GIZ, local experts, school directors and researchers from KPI.
The purpose of the meeting was to exchange good practices in the field of career development and performance evaluation of school principals. The meeting provided an opportunity for individual and group presentation and reflection on the state policies and best practices of the participating countries, as well as for exploring opportunities to adapt these good practices in Kosovo context as well.
Challenges identified in relation to career development and evaluation of the performance of school principals and recommendations of the meeting had highlighted the need for clarification of professional practice standards for directors, amend the legislation and procedures for the professional development of directors at pre- and in-service schools, forms of motivation for principals and those aspiring to be principals for self-development and for maximum contribution to school development, creating networks of collaboration between school principals at central and local level, in creation of databases accessible to the data by the school assessment and service evaluation of principals and school system, etc.
As a result of the meeting was opened opportunities for cooperation / twinning between a school and a school in Scotland in Pristina, Kosovo. They also discussed possibilities for further cooperation through joint projects and activities within CIDREE
